A couple of years ago I transformed a 1934 Hershey's Cookbook into an artist journal. Using various materials, I collaged, stamped, stickered, and painted over the color plates, working around the pie slices, muffin mounds, and kitchen utensils. This painting evolved in response to to the seemingly blissful, celebratory decadence of a Western-style dessert as a symbol of cultural arrogance and influence.
